Surya Putra is this guy from my high school days. I didn't know him very well except for him having a big goofy smile and living in a huge house on Turbull Canyon apparently with an elevator. I don't remember ever really talking to him, but he's Josephine's friend and he lives in Jakarta so we met up with him.
He, more specifically his driver, picked us up at our hotel and he took us to dinner. On the way, he told us what he did, which apparently consists of farming on facebook all day and watching his money roll in. He owns boats and rents them out to oil drillers and gets paid in US dollars. Since the ships are out all day, and he only has 3, the rest of the day, he's farming on facebook.
He took us to this restaurant called Ikan Bakar Cianjur, which means BBQ fish Cianjur. He ordered for us and the food was really good. We had a fried fish, fried chicken, stir fried vegetables, and tofu. He's a real funny and nice guy. He paid for the meal, and told the server that if he took my or Josie's money, he'd never eat here again, so we got treated to a great meal our first day.
Later, he (his driver) took us on a tour around Jakarta to show us the major sites ... all 2 of them. The White House where the president lives and a flame made of solid gold, which kinda reminds me of the golden Asahi poop in Asakusa. After about a 30 minute tour, he dropped us off and we said goodbye.
From the airport to the city, I was having mixed feelings of Indonesia, but thanks to Surya, my first day started off being very entertaining and satisfying.
