Prambanan

It took about an hour to get from Borobudur to Prambanan and it was a good chance to get some rest, because we had a long night ahead of us. When we got there, again it was full of street touts and stalls and beggars. We got in and started walking toward the main temples. It was a pretty amazing site.

It's a set of three pretty tall, rocket-shaped temples. Although it was big, it didn't take very long to walk around all three. Again, there were people hanging out on the steps of a 1000-year-old temple, just laughing and smoking ciarettes. It doesn't bother me to see this, because it's all part if their culture (including littering the smoked cigarettes).

Surrounding the complex, though, were a bunch of piles of rubble, perhaps leftover from the construction, or from the earthquake. It looked like a construction site (or a destruction site).

We walked along, and the while complex was sorta like a big park. There were a lot of trees and playgrounds within. We had a group of maybe ten junior high school kids come up and start talking to us. They were very friendly and amusing. They went ahead while we took some pictures and then made our way to Candi Sewi, another temple.

We got in and the kids were there and started taking pictures of us, to which we happily smiled for. After we were finished with the temple, we left and said bye to the kids. In unison, they all said "byeee!" Later we saw them again and asked if they would take a picture with us ...

We left the area and went back to Yogya. Personally, I thought Borobudur was much better than Prambanan, but they were both worth going to if you have the time and money.
