They're just trying to make a living

After we got off the minibus, a hoard of people bombarded us with taxis, motorbikes, and buses.  A guy asked where we were going, so I told him Surabaya and he followed us to the bus station entrance, which cost us 2 cents to get in.  That guy was persistent so I figured he probably got some commission for bringing people.

That's what really got me thinking.  So far, people who work this hard to get us to buy something has been an average of between $1 to $3.  I assume that they get some commission off of that, but this guy works hard for comission off of 2 cents.  It really puts Indonesia into perspective.  This guy can make a living off of this little (even to what seems like Indonesian standards).  It's not my duty to give people money here, especially because of how shady the business practices are, but after you weed out all the irritating aspects of it, these third world country people really have it tough.  But again, it's their culture an that's how they live everyday ...
